The Scrap House

December 23, 2009

Well, I’m really glad to say, it finally happened. The house, known as Walter for reasons I will never fathom, has been moved. 22 miles, down highway 12, to my front yard. I promised the school it would be gone about 9 months ago, but hey, what’s most of a year among friends? I’m not sure who took this photo, honestly, so I wish I could credit them. Hyatt sent it to me though. I’m out of town, but I’ll take some photos of its resting place and a status update. Initial reports sound like it made it fine, though. It’s good to know it’s done. Also, I’d of course like to thank the movers, Jarvis at Cape Point Exxon and Towing, purveyors of fine ethanol free gas and other such services. So thanks! And of course, Merry Christmas everyone!

This blog is dedicated to an experiment a group of three other fellow students and I are doing at our school in Buxton, NC. My Drafting III class and I set out to see if we could build a house for free. It's small, but functional. All the materials come out of dumpsters. And most of all, it's working.
